How quaint! I wish the contestants luck, but what are the chances for long-term happiness?

It appears that American style television, complete with plastic-surgery "enhanced" stars and starlets have come to India. Let's hope it doesn't affect the new generation of young people...

Hi Anamika!

The headliner, "I want him burned alive", caught my attention. I was glad to see you took a more reasonable approach in your presentation of this serious problem of ongoing violence.

So much of the world's violence has its roots (as the other posters also point out) in misundertandings of others and belief in the misguided ideas that say it's allright to attack those who are different from ourselves or our group.

The desire for justice is righteous, but what form that justice should take depends on what civil and criminal penalties have been deemed correct by civilized standards (thank goodness). Religion is responsible for playing a central role in encouraging the worst of the world's violence (including burning people alive). It was religion that said that God is an angry and vengeful God who would burn those not properly worshipping "His" word, and the violence that has ensued has been the legacy of religion ever since.

I believe education and fair treatment of people is the most important thing we can do to break the cycle of violence. As long as priests and mullahs are the main source of information, the violence will continue...

You have rightly pointed out the fact that the terrorists are misguided misinformed bunch of people whose very understanding of the religion is a myopic view. Who has trained them? Who has funded them? Choke their funds and you will not have these bunch of terrorists. Love gets love Hatred begets hatred Love kills hatred. I wish these countries sponsoring terrorism, funding terrorism wake up as the problems are now on their door steps. We as Indians are by far peace loving people.

It is time that we wake up from the slumber and defend ourselves against these terrorists. Presently looks like a tall order with the way government has reacted.
If we leave our shores open we leave our borders undefended then we are to be blamed and no one else. My question is how many people in India are security conscious. A nice article like the one you have posted earlier on the subject of rapes.

No, India is not the only place that charges tourists more.

I moved here recently from the okanagan valley in bc... and they rob tourists blind... tourist pay more for groceries etc... the locals have discount cards for everything.Basically in the supermarkets the prices you see on the food is for members (locals) tourists find themselves surprised at the cash register (tellers would get annoyed as I would always let the tourists in front of me in line use my card. A friend of mine visited India a couple years ago she didn't find it too expensive but i think its because she enjoys bartering.

What a wonderful post. I have noticed a lot of anti-Muslim comments myself both on the web and even here in Canada. I am glad to see someone posting messages of love instead of hatred.
